Like a bottle of wine that becomes better with time, Quest Hotel & Conference Center’s new Executive Chef, Jerry Montenegro Cruz, has built an impressive resume and career in just 12 years in the industry. From a busy kitchen helper to a celebrated chef, Chef Jerry’s drive to learn and evolve is like a hunger that can’t be satisfied.

A career as a hotelier, however—more so, a chef in demand—was not entirely in his plans, having finished a degree in computer science. But a desire to start working and a restless curiosity about the hospitality industry led him to start as a kitchen helper and a commis, and he has since never looked back.

However kneaded and molded at 5-star Manila hotels and luxury resorts, and having served A-List clientele including movie star Zac Efron and US politician Hillary Clinton, Chef Jerry has his feet still firmly planted on the ground. He has honed his skills of preparation under pressure and finishing exquisite dishes for large crowds and in timely fashion, while maintaining strict cost-efficiency. Managing large teams of chefs and cooks and conducting trainings, are also some of Chef Jerry’s strongest skills.

His insatiable desire to make something good even better has brought him to the kitchens of Quest Hotel & Conference Center’s main outlet, Pusô Bistro & Bar, as he prepares to briskly take the hotel’s existing well-loved international buffets to new heights of luxury, while keeping everything at the same valued and enticing prices.
