The Federation of Auto Clubs Cebu (FACC) is set to hold the 8th Inter-Auto Club Meet on Aug. 21-23 at the open parking lot of SM City Cebu at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
FACC officers said in a recent press launching that this year’s event is the “biggest of its kind in Cebu.”
“We’re proud to combine all the car clubs and car dealers of Cebu in one show,” said FACC president Jonathan Ho in a press launch last Aug. 12 at the Café Racer.
This year’s edition of the annual motoring event will carry the theme “Unity in Motoring.”
The auto show started in 2008 as part of the Mandaue Business Month activities. Eleven car clubs joined the maiden edition and that number increased to 13 a year after. This year, the number of car clubs under the FACC that will be joining ballooned to a whopping 27.
Ho said part of the success of the auto show is because of the strong bond between the different car clubs in Cebu.
“I think in the entire Philippines, we’ve never had a federation of car clubs [like this],”  Ho said. “That’s why our theme is ‘Unity in Motoring’ because what we want to do is to encourage different car clubs and car dealers to work together for the common good.”
Ho revealed there will be different activities that will be spread out during the three-day show that starts Friday. There will be nightly entertainment and during the day, sponsors will  showcase some of their latest products. There will also be prizes that will be raffled out throughout the event.
But the highlight of the event will still be the different vehicles that will be displayed by the participating car clubs and car dealers.
FACC member of the Board of Directors Ron Duterte said the car groups are the main reason the event has been running for eight years now. He also said it is because of the annual gathering that the camaraderie between the groups has been strengthened.
“Because of this  event, the community of car clubs in Cebu has been closer,” Duterte said. “I think [the bond] strengthened every year as we moved along.”
He added that it is not only the members of the car clubs who benefit from this show but also the general motoring public of Cebu.
“When people attend the show, they get a lot of knowledge about cars,” Duterte said.
