Police identify owner of motorcycle used in trader’s slay
Police said they have identified the owner of the motorcycle used by the man who shot dead 39-year-old businessman Paul Domingo in barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City early morning Sunday.
But Senior Insp. Elisandro Quijano, chief of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they are still checking who used the motorcycle when the crime was committed.
He said they have already ruled out robbery, business conflict and love triangle as motives.
They are now focusing on personal grudge as the possible motive.
Domingo, owner of the Bordz Bar, was on board his Isuzu D-Max pick-up with his friend Lyndon Cempron on their way home in barangay Mabolo when he was shot twice by an unidentified gunman about 100 meters from his bar.
Quijano said investigators are checking the possibility that a customer who went wild in his bar and was mauled and subdued might be responsible for the killing.
Police are also checking if the shooting has something to do with the incident last week, where Domingo took custody of a motorcycle that rammed into the car of Cempron’s girlfriend.
Quijano said although the footage of a security camera that captured the incident is not very clear, police were able to produce a cartographic sketch of the assailant.
In a separate interview, Supt. Romeo Santander, chief of Cebu City Intelligence Branch (CIB), said that based on the footage, the confrontation between the gunman and Domingo lasted for two minutes before the actual shooting.
Santander said the gunman wore a sleeveless shirt. He also appeared to be well-off.
The footage also showed that the man on the motorcycle followed Domingo’s car when he left the bar.
Domingo stopped for a while to relieve himself and when he went back to his car, the gunman approached him.
The gunman poked a .45 caliber handgun at Domingo and asked the victim if he still remembers him and what he did to him.
Domingo replied that he didn’t recognize the man.
The man took Domingo’s sling bag at the back seat. Domingo alighted and confronted the gunman. Then, two shots were fired.
Domingo died in the operating room at the Cebu Doctors Hospital.
Santander, who personally knows the victim, said Domingo was known for being friendly and approachable.
