A police asset suffered head injuries and landed in the hospital after a suspected drug pusher hit his head with an improvised shotgun Saturday afternoon in Barangay Poblacion East, Moalboal town.

Victim Nicanor Gabase and suspect Vicente Tumangon reportedly had an argument prior to the incident.

Tumangon allegedly confronted Gabase, whom he suspected of being the police asset who was instrumental in the arrest of his son last week.

PO2 Ñino Redasa of Moalboal police station said Tumangon was armed with an improvised shotgun locally known as pugakhang.

He allegedly shot Gabase but the latter evaded and the shot hit the wall of Gabase’s house.

Tumangon decided to hit Gabase’s head with the shotgun.

Redasa said when they arrived in the area, they saw Tumangon holding the victim, whose head was bleeding.

Police subdued Tumangon, who initially resisted.

Confiscated from him were the improvised shotgun with two bullets, a .38 caliber revolver with six ammunition, a knife and two medium packs of white powder believed to be shabu.

Redasa said Tumangon is a known drug personality in their area.
