Fake Cebu City business permits seized

About 10 fake permits were seized by the tax mapping team of the Cebu City Treasurer’s Office  in the city’s northern barangays.

Any Borres, head of Mayor’s Business Permit Section, said the fake business permits were issued by a certain John Paul Reyes.

Three fake permits were also found in three establishments in barangay Banilad issued by Reyes.

“A liquor store in Banilad told us that someone from City Hall issued the permit to them. The store also didn’t have a business permit. There is no John Paul Reyes at the CTO. We didn’t know how much they paid Reyes who issued them a receipt,” Borres said.

“Once we arrest him (Reyes), we will file charges of usurpation of authority against him, maybe even estafa,” Borres said.

He said the Cebu City government has a one-stop shop in SM City every January to help businesses get registered.
