CMI recovers, beats Dorma
CMI bounced right back from its first loss of the season by outlasting the defending champions Dorma, 69-66, in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup last weekend at the University of San Carlos gym.
Duane “The Shadow” Anino sparked CMI to its third victory in four games with 17 points while Erik Valleser added 16 markers, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Mito Parba added 14 points and eight boards while Jun Villacorta contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.
Dorma, who was missing the league’s MVP, Ed Macasling, fell to 1-3 (win-loss) for the season.
In other results, Megabond kept its record spotless with a 69-55 win over Phoenix.
Gerald Jayme paced the winners with an all-around show of 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks while Loreniel Tequin ably backed him up with a formidable line of 12 markers, six boards, eight dimes, two steals and a block to power the team to their fourth victory in as many games.
Phoenix, which got 17 from Marvin Sioatong, remained winless in four tries.
Davies evened up its record at 2-2 with a 71-63 win over Fenestram.
Mike Cinco exploded for 30 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals for Davies.
