Two media personalities to run for Cebu City councilors post in 2016

Two Cebu media personalities are running for councilors in Cebu City this 2016 elections under the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK).

Print journalist Garry Lao and broadcast personality Malou Tabar’s plans to run for the councilorial posts were announced during tonight’s first general assembly of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) – Cebu City at Tejero sports complex.

Former Cebu City Mayor and BOPK chairman, Tomas Osmeña announced Lao’s candidacy while Cebu City North District Rep. Raul Del Mar announced Tabar’s candidacy.

Lao is an incumbent barangay councilman for Tejero, who also works for The Freeman assigned at Talisay City beat. Tabar works for Cebu Catholic Television Network (CCTN).

Present during the announcements are BOPK members Margot Osmeña, Nestor Archival Sr., Alvin Dizon, Alvin Arcilla, Nida Cabrera, Leah Japson and Sisinio Andales.

The announcements are made during the assembly because of the LGBT community’s support for the two media personalities.
