Ramon “Red” Durano VI filed his certificate of candidacy with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office this morning.

Durano filed his COC for 5th district congressman at around 8:00 a.m. under his family’s Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (BAKUD) party.

Durano is the vice mayor of Danao City and also vice chairman of BAKUD.

BAKUD earlier expressed support for Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale who are seeking reelection

While the Durano-led BAKUD party in the 5th district is allied with the Liberal Party in Cebu, the party however has yet to identify a national party to align with.

Durano said that his brother, the incumbent Cebu 5th District Rep. Ace Durano and the provincial chairman of the National People’s Coalition (NPC), will not be seeking reelection.

“He will return to private life when his term ends in June 30, 2016,” he said.
