CHED grants Category A-2 to UV Journal of Research

The University of the Visayas Journal of Research is granted category A-2 status by the Commission on Higher Education. The research papers that find their way into the journal will automatically warrant international level publication after undergoing the stringent peer review process.

This recent announcement came via CHED Memorandum Order No. 22, series of 2015 with Resolution No. 146-2015. In the last quarter of 2014, the research papers, peer review system, and the editorial board of the UV Journal of Research passed through a rigid evaluation done by a team of technical experts who based their assessment on but not limited to the revised guidelines for CHED accreditation of research journals and providing incentives therefor (CMO No. 5, series of 2012).

The validity will run from year 2015 up to 2017.  “This achievement underscores the commitment of the Center for Research and Development (CRD) to solidify UV’s position as a research-driven university geared towards the development of human capital imbued with social conscientiousness,” as pointed out by Dr. Brian A. Vasquez, CRD Director.

“The process of journal accreditation has inspired the faculty and staff of the university to be all out in their role in the production of new knowledge, creative works, inventions, and innovations.  The challenge is to continuously produce quality researches at par with the best not only in the ASEAN region but with the rest of the world,” he added.

On May 26, 2014, the UV Journal of Research was granted Category B accreditation by CHED.  Immediately, UV CRD mustered the task of collaboration with its editorial board, researchers and peer reviewers in preparing for the next step to get the coveted Category A status.
