More sign language portions in TV broadcasts
THE deaf and mute communities in Cebu supported a Cebu City ordinance requiring TV stations to provide sign language interpreters during their local TV news broadcast.
In yesterday’s public hearing at the Cebu City Council, the Cebu Gualandi Association of the Deaf Inc. (CGADI) expressed their support to a draft ordinance authored by Councilor Leah Japson requiring sign language interpreters during news programs.
CGADI president Janice Aparri said they hope the TV stations can allot a bigger space for sign language interpreters during news broadcasts.
