CEBU City’s best smashers are readying themselves in their search for supremacy when they compete in the Philippine National Games, which starts today in Antique City.

Smashers from the University of San Carlos, Southwestern University, University of Cebu, and other top badminton schools will vie in both the juniors and elite categories of the badminton tournament that will be played inside St. Anthony’s College gym.

“[My players] are ready,” USC head coach Jaja Vequezo told Cebu Daily News.

Vequezo, who will also participate in the elite category of the tournament, said that his Warriors are more competitive than the previous editions of PNG.

Among the top names competing are Fritz Sagaad, Kevin Bergantin and Tricia Merced.

The elite category features players aged 16 years above while players aged 16 years below compete in the juniors category.
