CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday assured legal support for City Hall employees and officials who were administratively charged before the Civil Service Commission (CSC) 7 for participating in a protest rally last month.

“I can guarantee to them. If they want lawyers, there will be lawyers. Mikel is around. Atty. Estong Rama is around. And Atty. Emmanuel Rama is around. Jade Ponce is around. Maybe other lawyers will be around,” he told reporters yesterday.

At least 25 officials and employees were named as respondents in an administrative case filed by senior citizen Ernesto Adolfo before the CSC 7 last Tuesday for holding a protest outside City Hall last October 7 during one of the City Council’s discussion on the proposed P2.8 billion Supplemental Budget 1 (SB1).

The rally was held on a Wednesday morning, during office hours. A CSC resolution prohibits mass action “causing or intending to cause work stoppage or service disruption, albeit temporary in nature.”
