THE CORDOVA Central Elementary School sealed a first place finish in the first KCT Sports and Tourism Foundation Shatong Tournament held last Sunday at Camp Lapu-Lapu in Cebu City.

Out of 12 qualified teams, the quintet of Bonnie Canercia, Archelle Ando, Joefel Manavillas, Niño Encorporado and Kenneth Meguillo emerged winners and took home the P15,000 cash prize.

The winners topped Banilad National High School and Babag National High School Team B, who finished second and third, respectively.

Banilad is composed of Ernesto Adlawan, Jason Berdo, John Jay Cerna, Jeremiah Gabasa and Jake Yap while Babag-B is composed of Kyle Densina, John Lloyd Genario, Joseph Garcia, Jomar Garcia and Jerico Umabic.

The tournament format is a double elimination with games being a race to 100 points. The top three teams would meet each other to compete for the crown.

Tournament organizer Karen Cimagala-Tan said the participants went to play their hearts out despite the heavy downpour.

“The kids were all out, rain or shine,” she said.

There will be a tentative Bato Lata tournament set for March 2016.
