A 16-year-old girl and her father were injured after a relative attempted to rape the girl in barangay Langtad, Argao town, south Cebu yesterday dawn.
Police said Ana (not her real name) was sleeping inside their house when the suspect, identified as Christian Villamora, 21, broke into the house armed with a knife.
PO3 Benjamin Geyrozaga of Argao Police Station said that the suspect pointed the knife at the girl’s neck and warned her not to make a sound.
He said Ana tried to break free from Villamora and the commotion roused her father.
The father confronted Villamora but the latter stabbed him in the stomach while Ana sustained minor wounds in her neck.
Geyrozaga added that Villamora tried to escape but his neighbors arrested him.
He is now detained at Argao Police Station pending the filing of charges of rape, attempted homicide and physical injuries.
