Air force man shot dead in Lapu-Lapu City

A member of the Philippine Air Force was shot dead by unidentified men Tuesday afternoon in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Sgt. Joel Cuevas, 38, of Lower Matumbo, barangay Pusok died on the spot. He was shot five times  with a  .45 caliber pistol.

Police said Cuevas had just brought his wife and daughter to Muelle Osmeña wharf where they took a ferry boat to Cebu City en route to Bohol for the Christmas break.

When Cuevas arrived home and was about to get off his motorcycle, a man wearing a jacket shot him.  The gunman ran to a waiting motorcycle and sped off.

Sgt. Cuevas was an aircraft maintenance specialist in the  220th Air Base Wing at Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base.
