Cebu city mayor: Take down campaign posters

By: Marc Eric Cosep December 24,2015 - 12:01 AM

ACTING Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella yesterday ordered the removal of all campaign materials in public places regardless of which party mounted them.

Labella said the mounting of campaign posters violates City Ordinance No. 1656 which prohibits littering.

“I don’t care if it is Team Rama or whatever as long as it violates the ordinance, then it should be removed,” he said.

The campaign period for national officials starts Feb. 9 while the period for local officials starts on March 25.  Until then, campaign materials posted in public property like sheds, markets, terminals, sidewalks, bridges and other infrastructure will be removed.

Probe Chief Raquel Arce said they will still set a date for the clearing operation.
