Relocation site offered for Quiot fire victims

By: Marc Eric Cosep January 16,2016 - 12:40 AM

LANDOWNER Japer Development Corp. has offered to sell properties to the Cebu City government for the relocation of the fire victims in barangay Quiot, Cebu City.

Collin Rosell, Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) chief, said Japer has identified 11 lots in the adjacent barangay of Basak Pardo.

While negotiations are being held, Rosell said the fire victims would be allowed to stay in Quiot Elementary School.

Japer secured in 2011 a writ of execution for the demolition of structures built on its property in Quiot. These structures were razed by fire last Wednesday.

Rosell said Japer is taking possession of the fire site, which is being eyed as an extension of Desana Heights, a joint venture project with Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Corp.

As of yesterday, Rosell said they haven’t cleared the fire site.
