USC bounces back in Cabanero hoop

THE defending Cesafi champions University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors bounced back from a deflating loss in their first game by edging the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, 77-76, in the 1st Capt. Raul Cabanero Inter-Collegiate Basketball League on Friday night at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City.

After getting blasted by the University of the Visayas in their opening game in this competition, the Warriors fought hard and pulled out all the stops in the endgame to emerge victorious. Cesafi Mythical Five big man Charles Pepito led USC in scoring with 24 points while streaky wingman Ian Tagapan added 16. Left-handed center William McCaloney also gave the Warriors a lift with a dozen markers.

Geleant Delator had 21 for the rebuilding Webmasters while Justine Dacalos pitched in 14.

The champion of this competition will receive P50,000 while the runner-up gets P30,000. The second and third runners-up  gets to have P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

In the Inter-Sitio category, Crossan routed Holy Child, 89-69.

The tournament is supervised by Councilors Banjo Abastillas, Darwin Cabanero and Agnes Lastimosa and is being supported by the Bulacao Barangay Council.
