CLOSE to 500 runners are expected to participate in the “Run for LOVE” set to fire off on Feb. 14 at the Mactan Newtown grounds in Lapu-Lapu City.

The race will have the 5K and 3K Open and 5K and 3K couples categories.

It will be a noble cause for participants as the race’s proceeds will be donated to the Sto. Niño de Cebu-Mactan Parish.

“Aside from the competition, we also want to show love that is why we called this Run for Love. This will be done during the valentines and we want the runners to share love, care to participate and care to help the church,” said Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School Inc. assistant director Francis Barcelo.

Sunshine Lim, the school’s executive director, said they are targeting around 500 participants coming from the school itself, parishioners and visiting runners.

“We chose the date because we want to provide a healthy way to celebrate valentines,” said Lim in the event’s press launching yesterday at the Mcdonalds Mactan New Town.

Cash prizes and medals await the top finishers.

Registration fee is pegged at P350 for the individual run and P600 for the couple’s race inclusive of singlet, race bib and post-race refreshments.

Entry forms are available at the Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School Inc. campus and in Sto. Niño de Cebu-Mactan Parish.
