The Visayas Karate Union training camp slated Feb. 27 and 28 is expected to be the biggest gathering of karatedo clubs in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The event will be held at the Dumaguete City Gymnasium.

The mass training camp will feature Kyudokan Shorin, Shotokan and Shitoryu styles of karatedo. It will be handled by well respected senseis.

One of the organizers, Rey Vidal, the sensei of the Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Karatedo Club of Cebu, said they are expecting more than 200 participants in the two-day event.

Aside from Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu, other affiliated karatedo clubs Kyukodan, World Shotokan Karate Union (WSKU), Philippine Karatedo League (PKL) Visayas, Japan Karatedo Association, Dumaguete Karatedo Association and AAK Cebu have already signified their intention to join the event.

“This is the biggest gathering of karatedo clubs in the Visayas and Mindanao region. This is one way of showcasing camaraderie and unity among different clubs and this will also serve as the chance for other clubs to join this gathering for free. Everyone can join us,” Vidal said.

The Visayas Karate Union is composed of the aforementioned karatedo clubs.

Cebu’s karatedo clubs will send in a big delegation, numbering to around 50 karatekas.
