MANILA-BASED commercial basketball team Mighty Sports will be in town today and tomorrow to conduct tryouts for their squad that will compete in both the Filsports Basketball Association and the Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League.
The tryouts will be at the Cebu Coliseum and will start today at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The tryouts will continue tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m. until 12 noon.
The tryouts will be overseen by the team’s head coach himself, Mike Fermin, who Cebu Daily News was able to talk to in an interview yesterday morning.
Fermin, the former head coach of the Adamson Soaring Falcons who helped Cebuano guard Joseph Nalos soar to new heights in the UAAP, said that he couldn’t have picked a better place to look for players.
“After Manila, Cebu is the logical place to be to look for basketball talent. I’ve already seen firsthand how much talent and skill Cebuanos have with Joseph (Nalos),” Fermin said.
With both the FBA and the PCBL set to open next month, Fermin said that he is looking to bolster his roster with quality big men.
The players that Mighty Sports will pick will receive monthly allowances and free board and lodging in Manila.
