Cebu Liga 2002 favorites win matches

THE favored squads found little trouble in winning their opening matches yesterday in the Cebu Liga 2002 at the PAREF Springdale football pitch.

Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Team B highlighted the march of the favorites with a 7-0 bashing of Consolacion FC, in the day’s final match.

Kamil Jasir Amirul scored a hat trick with goals in the 18th, 29th and 42nd minutes while Sirach Nemenzo chipped in two (46th and 50th) John Carlo Vitalla and Jan Daniel Orbe accounted for the other two goals by the Bosconians.

Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) dumped University of San Carlos-Basic Education (USC-BED), 6-1, on Damascus Shields’ three goals (37th, 49th and 51st) and Jacob Braun’s double (3rd and 8th). Hiroshi Iwanaga added one in the 16th minute. USC-BED’s lone goal came from Marcus Rayco in the 27th minute.

Host team PAREF Springdale drubbed Don Bosco Boys Home, 4-2, in the afternoon match with Luis Roxas scoring a goal wo minutes into the game. Louie Arreglo added two goals (9th and 23rd) while John Vincent Tejap chipped in one (54th).

Belhonor Maglasang and Justine Jusayan were the scorers for Don Bosco Boys Home.

In the opening game, DBTC Team A manhandled Guardian Strikers FC of Talisay City, 11-0. However, tournament organizers failed to provide the names of the scorers.

The tournament will resume this Saturday at the same venue.
