THE NLEX Road Warriors are slowly proving to be like a locomotive moving at breakneck speed as they destroyed the Café France Bakers, 93-68, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Monday at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
The Road Warriors took the third period and made it their own as the Garvo Lanete, Kirk Long and Ronald Pascual connived in a 31-point rampage that paved the way for the rout.
The win was NLEX’s fifth in a row, as it inched closer towards the top with a 7-1 (win-loss) record.
Lanete finished with 20 points while Long added 13 spiked by three three-pointers. Ronald Pascual sank three triples and finished with 11 markers.
Café France had its four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-4.
In the opening game, the National University-Banco de Oro nabbed its second win as Denice Villamor sank the go-ahead trifecta with just a second left that lifted the Bulldogs to an 83-81 win over Wang’s Basketball.
NU-BDO won only for the second time in 11 games but it could not have come in a more thrilling fashion as it ended the game with a 9-2 run after trailing, 72-79, with 2:05 left.
