TWENTY-FOUR persons, including a one-year-old girl, were wounded when the truck they were riding fell on its side in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, south Cebu.

Police said the driver of the Isuzu Elf truck, Juna Samonio, lost control of the wheel after the truck’s engine conked out.

The truck came from Balamban town and was heading to Barangay Tabunok when it met the accident last Tuesday morning.

SPO1 Junard Chiong of the Talisay City Police Traffic Division said  Samonio was negotiating an uphill road and tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

The truck’s engine conked out, causing the vehicle to move backwards.

The driver shouted at his passengers to jump off but it was too late as the truck fell on its side before  anyone could jump.

The wounded passengers were brought to the Talisay City District Hospital.

The driver was detained at the Talisay City Police Station and could be charged for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple injuries, police said.
