PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III appointed Ahmed Cuizon as the regional director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB 7).

Cuizon is scheduled to take his oath of office at 4 pm today before LTFRB Chairman Winston Gines. He is expected to assume as LTFRB-7 director before the month ends.

Cuizon will replace acting LTFRB-7 director Reynaldo Elnar who assumed the post vacated by Cuizon on October 2014.

Elnar said when Cuizon assumes as LTFRB-7 director, he will go back to his original position of assistant regional director.

Cuizon left LTFRB7 after he was designated assistant manager of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on October 28, 2014.

Elnar said Cuizon re-applied for the position on March 2015.

President Aquino approved his application on January 10 but his appointment papers were not immediately released because of the election ban.

Elnar said Transportation Sec. Joseph Emilio Abaya helped facilitate a Comelec exemption on Cuizon’s transfer to LTFRB-7.
