FORMER Pasay City Mayor Wenceslao “Pewee” Trinidad died on Friday due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was 82.
A report from Radyo Inquirer said Trinidad was brought to the Asian Hospital in Alabang on Feb. 27 until he succumbed to death at 1:38 p.m. on Friday.
The report said the wake will be held at his residence in 2458 Park Avenue in Pasay City until Sunday morning. His remains will be brought to the Cuneta Astrodome for public viewing. His interment will be on March 8 at the Loyola Memorial Parks in Parañaque.
Trinidad served as Pasay City mayor from 2007 to 2010. He ran in 2013 for the same post but was defeated by incumbent Mayor Antonio Calixto.
In 2010, Trinidad and former Rep. Antonio Roxas were found guilty of graft for awarding a 489.95 million contract to a company without proper public bidding.
Trinidad and Roxas were sentenced by the Sandiganbayan to at least 10 years in prison and perpetual disqualification from office.
Trinidad had appealed his case in December 2015 before the anti-graft court.
