Despite a reminder from the provincial government, Councilor “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon went to Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) clad in her campaign T-shirt as she and her party distributed relief goods to the fire victims of barangay Guizo and Mantuyong on Tuesday morning.

Last Monday, Cebu Provincial Disaster Office Chief Baltazar Tribunalo Jr. said candidates are prohibited from distributing anything inside the evacuation center which is the CICC.

But Dizon said they have been doing distribution of relief goods in whatever calamity in Mandaue City regardless if it is election season or not.

Dizon said she doesn’t think there is such a law that prohibits candidates from giving goods.

She also said that her eco bag only bore her name and not the position she is vying for. Dizon said she informed the Mandaue City Social Welfare and Services about it and they were given the go signal to proceed with the distribution of relief goods.

Mandaue City Administrator Atty james Abadia said it is true that Dizon’s party coordinated with the CSWS. He said they don’t see any problem with Dizon’s group distributing the relief goods as long as they coordinated with the city government.

Dizon’s group gave rice, canned goods, noodles, T-shirts while One Cebu gubernatorial candidate Winston Garcia also gave pails filled with rice and canned goods.

They distributed over 2,000 packs of relief goods to the fire victims.
