Illegal drugs seized from pregnant woman
Four packs of suspected illegal drugs were seized from a woman who was about to give birth inside the delivery room of Vicente Sotto Memorial
Medical Center (VSMMC).
Russel Niebres, acting information officer of the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7, said the 31-year-old woman, a resident of A. Lopez, was allegedly admitted to the hospital at 11:55 a.m. after undergoing labor.
Niebres said the nurse were helping her to change clothes when four sachets were recovered from her clothes. Niebres said they are temporarily withholding the woman’s name who had just given birth.
Three PDEA officers were left to guard her until the hospital issues a clearance for discharge. She faces charges of illegal possession of illegal drugs. The packs of drugs were turned over to police custody.
