FIVE out of six candidates for mayor, three out of five bets for vice mayor, 43 out of 73 candidates for councilor and four out of seven congressional candidates in Lapu-Lapu City signed a peace covenant yesterday at the Our Lady of the Rule parish church.
Incumbent Mayor Paz Radaza and Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong, who are both seeking reelection under the Liberal Party, their slate, and supporters were at the event.
Mayoralty candidate Rolando Patalinjug, vice mayoralty candidate Rufo Amores III and their slate under the PDP Laban party also attended the peace deal signing.
The mayoralty candidate of the United Nationalist Alliance, Angel Rodriguez; congressional candidate Reynaldo Berdin; and some of its candidates for councilors were also present in the activity.
Independent candidates of the Cabahug family led by the father, Paul Cabahug, who is running for mayor, also signed the covenant. Other family members who participated were his daughter Kuditah Cabahug, who is eyeing the vice mayor’s post; his son Prospero Cabahug, who is running for a congressional seat; and another son John Cabahug, who is running for councilor.
Yesterday’s covenant signing started at noon and was organized by Fr. Leonardo Cabrera, parish priest of National Shrine of the Our Lady of the Rule, the Lapu-Lapu Police Office, and the Commission on Elections.
