Police nab suspect in Navy officer’s murder

THE person accused of murdering a Navy officer two years ago was arrested by police in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental Friday afternoon.

Jerome Omboy, a 22-year-old native of barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan town in Negros Oriental is detained at the Lapu-Lapu City police precinct after he was arrested in a joint operation at sitio Bateria, Guihulngan.

Omboy is charged with the murder of Petty Officer 2 Edwin Leogan at Mactan Bay Inn located at Dimataga Street Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City in Jan. 14, 2014.

Omboy was spotted by police walking along the road and was arrested on sight.
He supposedly shot the victim on suspicion that Leogan had an affair with his girlfriend.

Omboy went to the inn to see if Leogan checked into the establishment with his girlfriend. Omboy’s girlfriend identified and reported him to the Lapu-Lapu City police.
