Canvassing of votes delayed in Malabuyoc town

Malabuyoc town failed to start its canvass of election results due to technical glitches in its Consolidated Canvassing System (CCS).

Malabuyoc election officer Mariela Remoroza told Cebu Daily News that when they convened at 3pm on Monday, the CCS won’t initialize to start the canvass.

“Its progress bar would stop to 80 percent and then would hang up. It’s been that since yesterday,” Remoroza told CDN. She said they already tried their best to check what was wrong but when they initialized the program, the same error occurs.

“We called up the National Technical Support Center, they told us to wait,” Remoroza said. She said they reattached the batteries, used a contingency laptop to insert the configured SD card for the town but to no avail.

“Maybe the SD card is broken. How do we fix this when they didn’t give us a contingency SD card,” Remoroza said. As of 3:30 p.m. today, the election results of the 25 clustered precincts of the town have yet to be canvassed.

The Municipal Board of Canvassers is currently on recess.

“The teachers were finished at 10 pm to 11 pm at their precincts. What we did is we let them continue while we waited for our system to be fixed. We finished early in the precinct, we have a small voting population. But the CCS didn’t work so we have to wait,” Remoroza said.
