LTO asks for more time

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 has asked the Cebu City government for another extension of its deadline to vacate the Cebu City-owned lot it is occupying along N. Bacalso Avenue.

LTO-7 director Arnel Tancinco wrote to and visited the office of Acting Mayor Margarita “Margot” Osmeña yesterday to ask for the extension.

“We want to transfer, dili mi interesado nga magpabilin (we are not interested in staying). Nangayo lang mi og oras ug panahon (We are just asking for more time),” Tancinco said.

LTO was earlier given until the end of March to vacate the property.

Tancinco said they had received authority to transfer from Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) but did not have the budget.

“The authority to transfer does not come with a budget so dili ko sure kun unsay protocol ato kay (I am not sure what the protocol is because) any transfer accompanies a budgetary compliment,” he said.

He said they were eyeing to transfer to the Philippine Postal Corp. building near Fort San Pedro. The postal agency had sent a lease offer to LTO.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama issued last year a notice to vacate to pave the way for the expansion of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

LTO first asked for an extension until November 2015.
