At least 55 minors in Mandaue City, Cebu were rounded up past 11 p.m. on Thursday for violating the city’s curfew ordinance.

Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal, chief of Mandaue City Police Office, said the minors were first brought to MCPO for profiling before turning them over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development at 1 a.m. Friday.

The Mandaue City curfew ordinance was passed in 1999 but according to Cabal, Friday night was the biggest operation they conducted so far in years.

He said they first warned the minors about the curfew before conducting their operation.

All police stations in Mandaue participated in the operation which started at 11 p.m.

Section 2 of The Anti-loitering for Minors Ordinance of Mandaue stated that it shall be unlawful for person below 18 to wander, loiter, saunter or standby in public places, parks, plazas, markets, beaches and similar places, or in private roads, wharves, malls, alleys, thoroughfares and passages within the territorial jurisdiction of Mandaue City between 11 p.m. amd 4 a.m. of the next day unless they are accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult who are in charge of their custody.
