FANS of Kalyeserye sweethearts Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards went kilig when Mendoza sang the “Imagine You and Me” theme song during the noontime show Eat Bulaga! on Thursday.

Mendoza also wrote the lyrics of the song, which was set to music by comedian/songwriter Vic Sotto and arranged by veteran musician Jimmy Antiporda.

Before singing the song, Mendoza delivered a short speech for her supporters, saying it is now the right time for her first solo movie with Richards, the phenomenal love team’s gift to their fans in celebration of their first anniversary as a couple in the noontime show’s Kalyeserye.

“Hindi ko inaakala talaga na mangyayari sa akin kasi ‘yung mga pangarap ko unti-unting natutupad at iyon naman po ay dahil sa inyong lahat,” Mendoza said.

The actress also described Richards as her inspiration during the June 16 episode of Eat Bulaga, which marked the 48th weeksary and 11th monthsary celebration of the “accidental” loveteam.”

Before he went on stage, Richards asked Mendoza if she was ready for her performance. He advised her to just feel the lyrics and think of an inspiration.

“Isipin mo lang ang inspirasyon mo. Sino ba ang inspirasyon mo?” asked Richards.

Mendoza quickly answered, “Yung tinitignan ko … syempre ikaw.”

Although visibly nervous, the young actress managed to please the audience and fans with her performance. Richards was also seen encouraging her and singing along with her.

After Mendoza’s song number, Richards gave her a tight hug and a kiss on the forehead.

Aside from Mendoza’s rendition of their film’s theme song, fans were also able to get a glimpse of the movie, expected to hit the cinemas on July 13, through the screening of their first trailer teaser during the noontime show.

Directed by Mike Tuviera, ”Imagine Me and You” was shot in Como, Italy. Richards plays the role of Andrew while Mendoza is Gara, who according to the trailer is an NBSB (no boyfriend since birth).

The reel couple starred together in a movie for the first time in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2015 entry, “My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore,” playing supporting roles to Vic Sotto and AiAi delas Alas.
