ABOUT P100,000 worth of properties were destroyed in a fire that razed five houses in sitio Hideaway, Unit 4 Oprra, Kalunasan Cebu City at 4:05 a.m. Monday.

SFO3 Pier Angelo Abellana, fire investigator, said the fire was caused by a kerosene lamp that was left unattended in the house of Vilma “Bebot” Deladin.

Initial investigation showed that the Deladin family had no electrical connection.

Deladin told the fire investigator that she and other members of the family were awakened by the heat and they just realized that the fire already ate up the walls and the roof of their house.

Abellana said the occupants of the house rushed outside, failing to bring anything. The fire spread towards other houses that were also made of light materials.

Another house was damaged by the fire that was placed under control at 4:33 a.m. No one was hurt. Abellana said they had difficulty putting out the fire since the houses were located in an elevated area.
