ONE of ALA Boxing Gym’s rising fighters, Melvin “Gringo” Jerusalem is scheduled to meet a tough foe in the co-main event of July 16’s IDOL 2 at the Mandaue Sports Complex.

The unbeaten Jerusalem (9-0, 7KOs) will put his clean record on the line against the battle-tested WBC International Light Flyweight champion Jonathan Refugio (15-4-4, 3KOs) in a 10-round non-title showdown.

Refugio scored a mammoth upset when he beat heavily favored Richard Claveras via unanimous decision in their fight for the WBC International Light Flyweight title last February in Manila making him an exciting foe for the up and coming Jerusalem who won against former world champion Florante Condes also last February in a non-title bout at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

IDOL 2’s main bout will feature Jerusalem’s stable mate Jeo “Santino” Santisima (10-2, 9KOs) who will fight Indonesian Super Flyweight champion Junior Bajawa (14-8, 7KOs) for 10 rounds.

Aside from the two mentioned bouts, there will be other exciting matches lined-up in the boxing event promoted by ALA Promotions International and ABS-CBN Sports.
