FEARING that he may not live to see another day, suspected drug dealer Quirico Mangyao Jr., went to the house of Cebu City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña in barangay Guadalupe on Sunday morning to turn himself in.

Senior Insp. Genilo Veraque, chief of the Parian police precinct, said Mangyao ranks 6th in the city police’s list of top 10 suspected drug dealers in barangay Lorega.

Veraque said Mangyao was alarmed over reports on the deaths of top suspected drug dealers like Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz and Rowen Secretaria during police operations and chose to surrender rather than suffer the same fate.

But Veraque said they could not detain Mangyao since there is no arrest warrant against him. Mangyao was acquitted on illegal drug possession charges in 2011.

Veraque said they will continue to monitor Mangyao to determine if he stays true to his promise never to deal in drugs again.
