A RETIRED military officer was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center after being hit by a taxi while he rode his motorcycle along Sergio Osmeña Street Wednesday morning.

The victim identified as Anselmo Mendoza had just come from Danao City where he checked on some former students and was headed home to Sikatuna Street when a taxi with plate number GXU 349 hit him from behind.

The impact sent the 55-year-old Mendoza flying and falling face first on the concrete road a few meters away from his motorcycle while the taxi sped off on the corner of Kaohsiung Street and S. Osmena Street.

Oligario Semblante, a Cebu City Traffic Operations officer, said he arrived at the scene and saw Mendoza sustain a deep open-wound on his right knee, and few gashes on his forearm, elbow and hands.

Despite his bruises, Mendoza was conscious while he was attended by medics in the area. / UP Cebu Intern Morexette Marie Erram
