Man dies after being run over by truck

A 58-YEAR-OLD man died after being run over by a 10-wheeler truck at barangay Calajoan, Minglanilla town last Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Cielito Espera, a resident of barangay Zapatera Cebu City. Police said Espera crossed a street when he was hit by a speeding truck bearing plate number YJA-837 driven by Dandy Martinez of Negros Oriental.

Martinez immediately surrendered himself to the Minglanilla police. In Toledo City, a construction worker died in a collision with another vehicle after he tried to overtake it along the national road of barangay Ibo, Toledo City at 7 pm Tuesday.

The 43-year-old victim was identified as Almar Basalo, a pipe fitter employed in a plant project in barangay Looc Toledo City. He was rushed to the Toledo City District Hospital but died minutes later.

PO3 Carlos Barluado of the Toledo City police said the victim tried to overtake a vehicle but he lost balance and fell on the road face first.
