CENTRAL Visayas champions Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras got off to a faulty start after they bowed to the De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) Chevrons, 25-19, 25-6, in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League of Champions yesterday at Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
SWU, which is grouped in Pool A, put up some resistance early as it was just within 16-18 in the opening set. That proved to the closes that the Cobras could get as the Southern Luzon champions end the first set with a 7-3 attack to seize control of the match.
Things worsened for SWU in the second set as it was unable to find answers to the high-octane offense of the Chevrons, who pulled away, 25-6.
The Cobras hope to bounce back from the loss as they lock horns with Holy Family Academy in a crucial game at 6 p.m. today.
Another loss for the Cobras would put them on the brink of the elimination as only two teams from Pool A and Pool B will advance to the semifinals.
