Armed men killed in shootout with police

TWO armed men died in a shootout with police officers in a suspected drug den in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City at past 2 a.m. Wednesday.

PO3 Edario Manatad, homicide investigator, said the fatalities were only identified as a certain Bitoy and Erning.

Bacayan barangay chairman Zenaida Colina said the two men were not residents of the barangay.

Bitoy and Erning sustained multiple gunshot wounds after reportedly engaging in a shootout with SPO3 Felomino Mendrados of the City Intelligence Branch and PO3 Rodel Avewela of the Mabolo police precinct.

The two police officers are residents of Bacayan.

Aside from two revolvers, police also recovered packs of dried marijuana leaves and several packs of suspected shabu inside the shanty located under a concrete water tank.

Manatad said the two police officers received tips about the presence of armed men dealing drugs in the area.
