DSWD marks Disaster Consciousness Month

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) headed by Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre recently joined the press conference at the opening activity for the observance of Disaster Consciousness Month.

DSWD is the Vice Chairperson for Response of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

At the press conference, Artemia Degamo, social welfare officer and focal person on disaster, told media that in preparation for any calamity, the DSWD-7 has a standby fund of P3 million and 30,000 family food packs.

Degamo also said that the Visayas Disaster Response Center that houses the Mechanized Production System in packing relief goods has been established in Cebu to serve all regions in the Visayas and neighboring regions in Mindanao and Luzon if needed.
