RC Cola Army escapes Foton to take solo lead
THE RC Cola Army Lady Troopers escaped the Foton Tornadoes, 25-20, 27-25, 23-25 25-20, to take the solo lead in the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) -All Filipino Conference 2016 yesterday at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
After taking the first two sets, the Lady Troopers found themselves on a world of trouble as the Tornadoes displayed their defensive prowess, banking on the heroics of Cebuana Cherry Rondina to extend the game into a fourth set.
Rondina, who hails from Compostela, Cebu, accounted for two of the four blocks of the Tornadoes in the third set.
With their immaculate record on the line, the Lady Troopers set their full attention on Rondina as the undersized Cebuana was forced to play defense, receiving powerful attacks from Tina Salak, Rachel Anne Daquis and Honey Tubino.
The Lady Troopers slowed down the high-octane offense of the Tornadoes as they went on to win the fourth set, 25-20 and take a solo lead in the standings with a 5-0 (win-loss) card.
