CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña confirmed the termination of the financial assistance given to barangay officials in the city.

In Monday morning’s press conference, Osmeña said he’s removing the cash aid effective immediately.

Every month, barangay chairpersons receive P15,000 while councilpersons, secretaries and treasurers receive P12,000, P9,000 and P6,000, respectively.

Osmeña however clarified that the cash aid was already terminated during former mayor Michael Rama’s time.

He said some barangay officials have not received cash aid since last February especially those identified with the Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK), an Osmeña-led political party.

Osmeña said it is only fair that the cash aid will be terminated across the board.
