A man said to be suffering from a mental illness got jailed after he reportedly tried to set fire to the toilet inside the storage building of his sister in Belocura Compound, Visitacion St, Sambag Dos, Urgello St., Cebu City.
FO3 Mariechel Caburnay of the Cebu City Fire Station said 50-year-old Nonelon Belucora was placed under police custody after the incident.
Belocura is reportedly under the influence of drugs when he tried to burn the toilet. Damages were placed at P500. The fire was put out at 4:48 p.m. or 18 minutes after the fire station received the alarm.
PO3 Clisfton Manogura, duty desk officer of Station 2 of the Cebu City Police, said this is not the first time that their station received an alarm involving Belocura.
Manogura said a complaint of child abuse was earlier filed by Belocura’s sister after he punched his 16-year-old niece.
Manogura said Belocura was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) for medical check-up and liquor test after he smelled of liquor. If evidence warrants, Belocura may face arson charges./Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
