Metro Cebu residents were advised to go home early as light to moderate rain will still be experienced Tuesday night due to the formation of thick clouds in the Visayas area.

“Based on our satellite data, raining will still continue tonight,” said Pagasa Visayas chief Oscar Tabada. He said the formation of thick clouds started as early as 10 a.m.

He said rains and strong winds were felt in Samar, Leyte and Bohol areas. It was felt in Cebu at 1:45 p.m. Pagasa’s Mactan office recorded wind velocity of 54kph then.

Strong wind toppled some billboards along the Cebu Business Park. There were also unconfirmed reports on the presence of a whirlwind in the area.

A vessel docked in Barangay Poblacion in Naga City was also washed by seawater towards the city boardwalk located a few meters away.

Tabada said they could not yet confirm reports on the whirlwind. But he said the whirlwind is normally stronger and could topple something much bigger than a billboard.
