UC to finally join Cesafi boys v’ball

THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters will finally make their much-awaited debut in the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) boys’ volleyball tournament, which starts next month.

The Baby Webmasters will be the second newest team in the boys league this season after the Southwestern University (SWU) Baby Cobras signed up last May.

The Baby Webmasters have been wanting to join the league a few years back but wasn’t able to do so for lack of players.

But UC got a major lineup boost after drawing interest from several players from Cebu Province during the off season.

“Our players are mixed. 80 percent from the Province and 20 percent are from Cebu City,” said Baby Webmasters head coach Alan Flores.

Although he knows the competition will be tough, the 40-year-old said he is optimistic the team can pull off some upsets in the tournament.

“As long as the effort is there, we have a chance,” Flores said. Flores said he took the coaching job because he wanted to help the school’s athletic program.
