POLICE found a newborn baby boy beneath a tree in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City at 1 p.m. Monday.

PO1 Alcindor Suico of the Talamban police precinct said they received a phone call from one of the barangay officials of Bacayan about an abandoned infant in their place.

“When we arrived there, residents took care of the baby and gave him milk to drink,” he said. Suico said they turned over the infant to the Cebu City Medical Center.

“We’re conducting an investigation to find out who the baby’s mother is,” he said.

He said the person who abandoned the baby can be sued for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
