THE University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers inched closer to championship round after they survived separate foes in the 2016 CESAFI boys volleyball semifinals yesterday at the USC Main gym.
USC avenged its finals loss last season to the defending champions University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) by scoring a 25-22, 26-24 win, while USPF clawed back from five points down in the second set to nip the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters, 25-20, 25-23.
The Baby Panthers and Baby Warriors only need a victory next weekend to advance to the final round.
In the men’s division, the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras outlasted the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in the highest-scoring ball game of the season 30-28, 25-16, 27-25.
In the girls division, USJ-R kept its immaculate record intact as it outclassed Cebu Eastern College, 25-12, 25-17, while defending champion SWU tripped USC, 25-7, 17-25, 25-23.
