Google’s DevFest 2016 draws over 1,000 participants

Cebu is set to host the biggest tech-conference in Visayas with more than 1,000 programmers, technology enthusiasts, students, and digital experts registered to participate in the Google Developers Group (GDG) DevFest 2016 this November 19 at SM Seaside City.

GDG Cebu communications manager Frances Teves, during their press conference this morning at Plaza Pino, said they also hoped it will be the biggest Google tech conference in the entire Philippines.

Shad Roi de la Cruz, GDG Cebu community manager said this is the fifth year for the conference and the biggest so far.

“Confirmed participants came from different parts of the Visayas region,” he said.

Experts on technology and digital innovation, as well as representatives from the headquarters of Google, will also participate as key-speakers in the conference according to de la Cruz.

The event will include programming tournaments, code labs, and speaker sessions, all of which will utilize different products and softwares from tech-giant Google.

Winning teams and participants can receive up to P15,000 as cash prize.
